responsible ai for africa

Generative AI is here to stay and like many new technologies, we often wonder how inclusive it is of African markets. In an exploratory study on Generative AI for Africa, we evaluated its capacity to comprehend and convey African context and language. Drawing insights from case studies conducted in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Ethiopia, the study examined Generative AI's aptitude for synthesizing information, discerning nuances, and delivering reliable outputs within the intricate fabric of African societies. In this talk, we will look at the potential impact of these outputs on African users and begin to set a roadmap of considerations for UXRs and the digital community at large to ensure we are responsibly training and using this revolutionary tool.
