The Online Wall of Deliverables - User Intelligence (Netherlands)

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Every year, many practitioners from the user experience field meet at the IA Summit. The summit is a place to meet peers, learn from others and get inspired through workshops, presentations and poster sessions. Many of the sessions deal with ideas, concepts and theories of the IA field in which presenters regularly refer to actual projects and their deliverables to illustrate their points.

In the user experience field, clear communication of deliverables is of great importance to increase project success and efficiency. Therefore many designers are constantly looking for the good ways to communicate their ideas to clients.

At the 2008 IA Summit in Miami, the first Wall of Deliverables offered an activity where conference attendees could view and share deliverables with their peers (pictures here!). People could post their favorite deliverable, along with details that defined its context. This wall acted as a great starting point for useful discussions.

Attendees to the Summit could vote for their favourite deliverables and a group of judges rated the deliverables. Prizes were awarded for the top deliverables in both categories. Among the prizes offered were Two Nintendo Wii’s and two iPods.

This year User Intelligence (Netherlands) created the second annual Wall of Deliverables - a whole area in the conference location was dedicated to many different deliverables for people to browse through, discuss and be inspired by. This year, “the wall” was not only be present at the Summit, but was available online as well.

User Intelligence plans to keep the Wall online after the IA Summit - to continue inspiring our peers and allow them to share their deliverables. Feel free to have a look, comment and submit your deliverable at: www.wallofdeliverables.com.
